Shivacult
Hello, My name is Harshavardhan Sreedhar and Shivacult is my introspective music project. I'm based out of Budapest, Hungary and Hyderabad, India.
Marrying a thousand year old Indian Carnatic tradition of music with cutting edge electronic musical ideas, Shivacult strings intricate phrases of melody with electronically synthesized elements, focusing on the aesthetic aspects of the “Raga” system and its emotional capabilities. Meditation - ancient and contemporary spiritual and occult thought plays a central theme of the storyline of my compositions.
I have been greatly influenced by my parents Smt. Anuradha and Sri. Sreedhar, and received initial Carnatic classical vocal training from Sri. Nedunuri Shyamakrishna and Smt. Sundari Janakiraman in Hyderabad, IN. I was soon introduced to dub and psychedelic ambient sounds by reknown Tilos radio (Hungary) selector Dakta Dub at Monkey studios where I learnt to use a set of Turntables. Thus began my search for quality sound, my urge to fuse my natural talents into what is now ‘Shivacult’.
